In an unusual melding of advertising with entertainment, Cordiant Communications plans to merge its Hamburg-headquartered advertising agency network Sholz & Friends with United Visions Entertainment, a producer of programmes for television and the internet.

According to Cordiant chief executive Michael Bungey: “This merger brings new skills to the Scholz & Friends network, allowing it to fulfil its potential more rapidly.”

The combined operation, which Cordiant will dominate with over 80% of the equity, is claimed to be Germany’s first integrated agency - wedding in-depth knowledge of the entertainment industry to advertising and communications knowhow.
