ATLANTA: The Coca-Cola Company revealed a surprising third quarter fizz in global profits which rose 14% to $1.46 billion (€1.15bn; £775m), compared with $1.28bn during the same period last year.

The company's flagship soda brands enjoyed a boost during the summer, led by soccer World Cup promotions in Europe and increased sales in the emerging markets of China, Russia and the Middle East.

Comments chairman/ceo Neville Isdell: "I am pleased with our performance in the quarter and year to date, with most key markets making a positive contribution."
