Three of the region’s most dynamic economies have combined to market the Pearl River Delta via the web. The combined site – www.pearlriverdelta.org – is funded by The Hong Kong Tourist Association, Guangdong Provincial Tourism Bureau and the Macau Government Tourist Office. It aims to promote the area, its hotels and facilities across the globe.
Says HKTA chairman Selina Chow: “We believe that after China's accession to the World Trade Organization, Hong Kong will become the support center for the mainland. The numbers of business people visiting Hong Kong, or traveling to the mainland via Hong Kong, is also expected to increase. We will leverage on our competitive edge.”
HKTA statistics claim that some 2.7 million overseas tourists visited the Pearl River Delta region last year.
