London-headquartered Chime Communications, a mini-conglomerate of advertising, PR and design agencies, hopes to emulate its UK successes in the USA.
The group has established a beachhead in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with the acquisition of LNS Communications, a technology-oriented PR shop. The deal sees $10 million on the table with a deferred performance-related tranche of up to $6m.
Chime run by Lord Bell – once ornery ol’ commoner Tim Bell until his ennoblement by ex-prime minister Margaret Thatcher, grateful for his PR contributions to her three electoral victories – views the purchase as a springboard into the US marketplace: “It is the first step in a US strategy to replicate our success in the UK," he said.
