British TV broadcaster Channel 5 has unveiled plans to screen a blockbuster movie each month through 2001.

Films such as Starship Troopers, The Negotiator, George of the Jungle and Lethal Weapon 4 will be given their first terrestrial outing on the channel next year.

There are also plans to premiere The Matrix, Armageddon and Wild Wild West within the next two years, courtesy of Channel 5’s deals with Warner Bros, Buena Vista and Colombia.

Classic films such as Goodfellas, Blade Runner and the Rambo series will be used to complement the more recent blockbusters.

Commented controller of acquisitions Jeff Ford: “For the rest of 2000 and 2001 we will be giving our viewers an unmatchable programme of movies”
