British television broadcaster Channel 4 may launch a new digital channel to exploit the successful roll-out of Freeview.

The group is mulling a free-to-air station called G4, targeting older viewers than its current youth offering E4. The former would, it is thought, be aimed at a typical viewer of US comedy Frasier; the latter is meant for a typical viewer of fellow stateside offering Friends.

Neither E4 nor Channel 4’s other digital service FilmFour is shown on Freeview (a free-to-air platform launched in October), as both are pay-TV channels.
