As predicted [WAMN: 20-Jun-01] French supermarket chain Carrefour, the world’s second largest after Wal-Mart, has handed the rights to erect and sell advertising sites in its parking lots to America's Clear Channel Communications in a massive E1 billion ($846 million) deal.

Clear Channel triumphed over its compatriot Viacom and JC Decaux of France to win the long-term contract, which covers all Carrefour’s European stores.
