The first-quarter report of US-headquartered women’s web portal iVillage reveals that ceo Candice Carpenter resigned last month.

Although no longer on the board, she remains an employee “available for special projects for the request of our chief executive officer and board of directors” until the end of 2002.

Carpenter, who launched the portal in 1995, received a $1,327,900 lump sum upon leaving, in place of the payments due under her agreement with iVillage in October 2000. She will also receive a monthly salary of $3,100 this year and $2,325 in 2002, at the end of which iVillage’s “obligation to pay Ms Carpenter's salary terminates.”
