The European unit of Japan-headquartered photographic and printing titan Canon has made a number of agency appointments as part of the consolidation of its $230 million duties in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, appointing London-based CDP as lead agency.

Scooping the estimated $35 million media planning and buying account in the region is Tempus-owned CIA Medianetwork, which bested Carat in the final pitch. The business will be coordinated from the agency’s International Media Management centres in London and Düsseldorf. CDP Media – co-owned by Tempus and CDP – retains the £8m UK media duties.

Splitting creative duties are Dentsu (parent of CDP) and TBWA/Hakuhodo. Dentsu agencies across Europe will work together on ‘consumer imaging’ products, as well as scanners and printers for the small office and home markets. TBWA/Hakuhodo is to handle the business solutions account, covering products for major offices and consultancy.
