BRITAIN'S LARGEST BUILDING SOCIETY Nationwide is to become an Internet service provider, competing head-on with US giants like AOL/CompuServe and the BT/Murdoch-owned LineOne. Branded Nationwide Internet Services, the new venture will launch in the summer, providing the society's seven million members with access not only to Nationwide's online banking service but also full Internet privileges. The service, developed in partnership with BT, will be competitively priced, offering customers up to five e-mail addresses per household and the facility to create their own Web pages.
