COI Communications, the advertising interface between the British government and its official advertising and marketing agencies, has axed two shops and appointed eight to its strategic media planning roster after whittling the original list of twenty-six to ten.

Although it has yet to be revealed who gets which slices of the government media planning cake, it will be shared between Manning Gottlieb Media, Media Edge, MediaVest, Naked, New PHD, Optimedia, Unity and Zenith.

Departing the table with not a crumb are Starcom Motive and OMD.
