NEW YORK: CBS has relaunched its online video website TV.com, which now features its own content plus offerings from PBS, Sony, Endemol and MGM. Leslie Moonves, the CBS ceo, says the move could "blow it up into a very significant presence."
As well as offering CBS shows for download, TV.com, which relaunched yesterday (Monday), will contain programs from its pay-TV arm Showtime.
The company acquired TV.com as part of its $1.8 billion (€1.3bn; £1.2bn) acquisition of CNET Networks in 2008, but it had previously only offered video clips, interviews and programme information.
Says Moonves: "One of the things that was exciting to us about CNET was that they had TV.com, which has 16.5 million unique users before it got any content from CBS.
"We will have content from a number of providers and believe TV.com could become the ultimate TV destination online."
