NEW YORK: US television network CBS is breaking new ground with plans to air its forthcoming Evening News with Katie Couric simultaneously online.
The broadcaster hopes the free internet broadcast, supported by advertising, will open up the show to a broader and younger audience - and a different type of marketer.
CBS plans to sell the eight minutes of ad time for the TV version separately from the webcast. The latter rates will be based on a younger demographic.
