C4 PRIVATISATION PUT ON BACK-BURNER

Following intense resistance from Channel 4 senior executives, the government has postponed its planned £3bn privatisation of the station. C4 chief executive Michael Jackson is unequivocally hostile to the move and the government, already juggling a host of increasingly hot political potatoes, is currently unwilling to risk public confrontation over the issue.
