INTERNET LITE is the latest heavyweight contender in the increasingly cut-throat UK Net access market. A joint venture between Cable & Wireless Communications and consumer electronics chain Tandy, Internet Lite charges no subscription fee and telephone usage is billed at standard rates, as is customer helpline support - unlike Dixons’ freebie venture which charges support calls at the premium ate of £1 per minute. The Dixons’ offering, however, makes no charge for initial registration, whilst Internet Lite levies a once-off £10 registration fee for its service, which supersedes C&WC’s earlier and pricier Internet operation.
