LONDON: The UK Advertising Association announced Wednesday that its new chief executive and director-general will be Baroness Peta Buscombe - currently the Conservative Party shadow minister for Education and Skills in the House of Lords.

She will take control of the AA's helm in January 2007, following the retirement after thirteen years of Andrew Brown, who steps down at the end of the year.

Prior to entering politics, Buscombe practised law commercially both in London and New York before becoming a legal advisor to the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising
