Mary Bishop, president and chief marketing officer of Leo Burnett USA in Chicago, has announced she will step down and take and early retirement from March 1.
The 49-year-old Bishop, who heads the shop’s Procter & Gamble account, explained that she had been considering the move for some while. “I've done all the things I wanted and have been planning [to retire] by 50. I'm the youngest retiree at Burnett” she said.
Bishop added that she plans to take a more active role on corporate boards and [as ever] spend more time with her family.
Burnett denied that the decision was related to its recent spate of layoffs [WAMN: 8-Feb-01]. A successor has not as yet been named.
