Bcom3 Group swung from a net loss of $65.6 million in 2000 to a net income of $26.1m (€30m; £18m) last year, the group revealed Tuesday.

The results for 2001 include pre-tax and restructuring charges of $20m, far less than the near-$72m incurred in 2000 through the merger of MacManus Group with Leo Burnett Worldwide that spawned Bcom3.

The agency grouping saw global revenues increase 4.6% to $1.9 billion, comprising a 6.5% rise in US turnover to $1bn and a 2.4% uplift elsewhere to $900m.

However, worldwide revenues for the fourth quarter slipped 2.8% year-on-year to $534m: $270m in the US (+0.6% year-on-year) and $264m elsewhere (–6%).
