ABSOLUTELY NO truth in the scurrilous rumour that Ed Carter, BT’s combative direct marketing consultant, is contemplating a career change following the recent passing of the late and much lamented heavyweight wrestler Big Daddy. However, new employment could be on the cards for the 17-stone, 6ft 5' hulk following his reported physical differences of opinion with Stephen Burr, BT’s financial controller for marketing and sales, and AMV account director Jeremy Miles. Ed’s mentor and biggest fan at BT, Stafford Taylor, consumer division managing director, is to retire at the end of December and his successor, Rupert Gavin, is said to be less appreciative of Ed’s martial skills. BT is zipped-lipped about Carter’s future but gleeful internal rumours abound that he is about to be thrown out of the ring.
