British telecoms operator BT Group is teaming with Yahoo! to form a new ISP venture.
The duo will launch BT Yahoo! Services in the autumn, pooling the internet access and customer services resources of BT with content and features from Yahoo!.
The move, which covers both narrowbrand and broadband, marks the end of the telecoms group’s underachieving BT Openworld ISP, which will be folded into the new venture.
BT hopes the new offering will encourage broadband take-up. It has set a target of 60,000 extra subscribers by March next year (compared with well over 450,000 existing BT internet customers).
