BT INSTALLED its first multiphone – a kiosk offering 24-hour access to the internet and e-mail - at Waterloo’s Eurostar terminal. Announcing plans for a further 1,000 kiosks in airports, stations and shopping centres by next March, BT said: ‘We have been around the world and have not found a phone which offers the same services ... new developments will be added later this year, including the videophone. We are bringing this in almost two years early and our first videophone will be in the Millennium Dome.’ Users swipe a BT phonecard or a credit card to access multiphone services, including news, sport, travel and entertainment updates.
