LONDON: Expansion into broadband internet services appears to be delivering handsome returns for UK satellite monopoly BSkyB, as its one millionth online customer has just signed on the dotted line.
The News Corporation-controlled firm claims that after just fourteen months in the market it is the fastest-growing broadband provider in Britain.
Sky's growth rate underlines its transformation from a leading company in the £7 billion ($14.4bn; €10.04bn) TV market to a challenger in the broader £25bn entertainment and communications sector.
Opines ceo James Murdoch: "Sky entered the broadband marketplace because we saw an opportunity to challenge the established players and give customers something better.
"Our aim is to meet the hunger for better quality, better service and better value."
