US-BASED BRITON Tony Ball replaced Mark Booth as chief executive of BskyB when the latter left on 1 June. Ball, who, according to an insider, makes Sky's colourful former chief executive Sam Chisholm 'look like a choirboy', started his career with Thames Television and his CV also includes a stint with Mark McCormack's sports broadcasting arm, Trans World International. Prior to taking up his new appointment at Sky, Ball was president and chief executive of the Murdoch-owned Fox/Liberty Networks in the USA.
