According to a report published yesterday by NOP, the number of Britons shopping online has more than doubled during the past year.

During that time, one in four British internet-users had made an online purchase, ninety per cent of whom used a credit or debit card in payment. Only 3% were dissatisfied with the experience and 90% said they would buy again via the web.

The sampling of 25,000 adults was conducted in June and July – prior to the highly publicised customer security lapses at online bank Egg, Barclays Bank and PowerGen.
