QUONDAM CARD-CARRYING Commie, and until recently head of the Gas Consumers Council, Sue Slipman has been hired by Camelot to chamfer-up its tarnished image. Twenty-one years back, Slipman, then a member of the national executive of the UK Communist Party, became the first woman president of the National Union of Students. Her brief at the fat cats home will be to develop a corporate citizenship and social responsibility policy - whatever that may be. 'It is not just a PR exercise', protested Louise White, Camelot's director of public affairs. 'We appointed Sue so she can help us win over public confidence.' [Er, isn't that exactly what a PR exercise is, Louise?]
