BBC to Launch Website with Ads

News, 30 March 2006

LONDON - The publicly-funded broadcaster's commercial arm, BBC Worldwide, is planning an advertising-supported website next year to exploit its popularity overseas.
BBC.com will ebable users to catch up on missed episodes of favourite programs or even buy the entire series.
The move is likely to incense commercial rivals, many of whom have complained about the corporation capitalising on its publicly funded programming.
