New Zealand agency The Bates Palace has announced a merger with local independent shop Generator, to be finalised on October 2. The new firm will be called Generator Bates.
The Bates Palace is a member of Australia’s The Communications Group, a subsidiary of the UK-based Cordiant Communications.
Generator has gained a reputation for creative, sophisticated campaigns, including Sony ads featuring twins with different sexual orientations.
Only one client conflict arises from the deal: local firm DB Brewing has been dropped by the new agency in favour of Carlton & United Breweries, a Bates client for 34 years. Bates’ other clients include Nokia and Daewoo, while Generator has Red Bull and Mercury Energy.
