BANK IN NATION’S BIGGEST-EVER SPONSORSHIP

News, 22 August 2000

The Special Olympics, to be hosted by Ireland in 2003, will be sponsored by the Bank of Ireland, the country’s largest commercial bank.

The $5 million deal is Ireland’s biggest-yet sponsorship of a single event. Of the total, around $3m will go directly to underwriting the games, with the rest allocated to marketing and advertising the event to a global audience.
