UK flagship carrier British Airways has appointed a global marketing chief, in the person of Tiffany Hall.

Hall is currently head of BA global sales and distribution but in her new role will consolidate global marketing and distribution under one roof. She will continue to report to commercial director Martin George.

The new post is part of a management reshuffle by recently-appointed ceo Willie Walsh, as he attempts to cut the airline's costs by $300 million ($530.5m; €437.5m). He intends to halve the number of senior managers and axe 30% of middle managers by 2008.

BA recently handed its £60 million ($105m; €87m) global advertising business to London-headquartered agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty after 23 years with M&C Saatchi [WAMN: 12-Oct-05].
