Commercial Radio Australia reports a 14.8 per cent rise in advertising revenue across Australia's main urban radio stations in 2004.
According to figures by PricewaterhouseCoopers for Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney, broadcasters gained A$556.6 million ($419.71m; €321.40m; £224.52m) from ad expenditure.
Advertising revenue continued to rise in December, with the month's market up on 2003 by 14.7 per cent to A$50.3 million.
Joan Warner, CRA chief executive, beamed: "A lot of new advertisers have been attracted to radio this year because it offers the best value of all main media in terms of reaching large audiences per advertising dollar.
"We're looking to build on this momentum in 2005 because radio continues to be extremely competitive, particularly when compared with some of the significant rate rises reported for other media."
