August A Busch IV, group vp–marketing and wholesale operations at US brewing giant Anheuser-Busch, is set to receive the ‘Advertiser of the Year Award’ on June 23 at the Cannes International Advertising Festival.

The honor will be conferred in recognition of the consistently high quality of A-B’s recent ads, created by DDB Worldwide in Chicago; also of Busch’s role in the group’s current domination of the US beer market.

Ads for Anheuser-Busch brand Budweiser have been particularly successful in recent years. The ‘Louie the Lizard’ campaign gained a Silver Lion at 1998’s Cannes Festival, while the ‘Whassup’ ads – the campaign that launched a thousand playground chants – took the Cannes Lions Film Grand Prix last year.
