PNC Bank is seeking a new agency for its (estimated) $30 million account after two-year incumbent Arnold Worldwide in McLean, Virginia, resigned the business in favour of extra duties for Citizens Bank.

The Citizens account – which Arnold won at the start of the year – is expanding following the company’s acquisition of Mellon Bank of Pittsburgh’s retail division, whose duties – worth $8m last year – would have conflicted with the PNC business.

The shift will see Arnold’s offices in Philadelphia and McLean handle the enlarged Citizens brief, covering Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. Although the client spent under $7m on advertising last year, its marketing budget this year is expected to surpass $40m.
