Media group New York Times Company has reported a dramatic fall in ad revenue for April.

Following the slump in adspend in the tech, telecoms, entertainment and media sectors, advertising income was 16% lower last month than April 2000 – a particularly successful month when ad revenues for flagship title New York Times jumped 16.5% year-on-year.

Ad revenue at NYTC’s newspaper division as a whole, excluding the seven regional titles sold in the last twelve months, fell 15.4%.
