ST LOUIS: US brewer Anheuser-Busch announced Wednesday it is to increase marketing spend in 2007 - but few of those extra dollars will find their way into the coffers of network TV, according to cfo Randy Baker .

Speaking to investors in New York, Baker said: "We will be significantly increasing our total spent, with revisions in our media mix to reflect the viewing habits of our consumers."

Among those revisions, Baker explained, are a "significant shift into cable" and a doubling of digital spending.

TNS Media Intelligence reports that A-B spent $287.2 million (€218.47m; £147.34m) on network TV last year, a sum representing around 47% of its total media spend. It is not clear how many dollars will be diverted from the sector next year.
