America Online’s broadband internet service is now available to an extra 7.2 million British homes after the group agreed a deal with US-owned cable group NTL.
The AOL high-speed offering is being launched across NTL’s UK network. This makes the service – which can already be accessed via BT Group’s telephone lines – available in 70% of British homes.
AOL’s broadband package had a low-key roll-out last week on NTL – Britain’s largest cable operator – and will be publicised via an online campaign in the weeks ahead. A deal with number two cable firm Telewest is also being discussed.
