Britain’s most popular online retailer remains, according to figures from Nielsen/NetRatings, but the e-tailer was pipped at the post in Europe by topped the British poll with 2.37 million UK unique users in December, ahead of and the internet arm of supermarket giant Tesco in second and third respectively.

The e-tailer’s British success extended elsewhere in Europe, as the Amazon group claimed three of the top five most visited sites in the continent – (3.83m European unique users), (3.68m) and (2.52m) were second, third and fourth respectively. However, top spot went to with 4.37m, while came in at number five.
