Online retail giant is testing a new site that will allow customers to buy clothes while shopping for books, music and the other products already on offer.

The new service, code-named Project Ruby, will sell apparel from several leading retailers, including Gap, Nordstrom, Lands’ End, Target, Eddie Bauer and Foot Locker.

These partners will ship the clothes to customers once they have ordered through Amazon, allowing the etailer to expand its service without having to store more goods.

According to an email sent to Amazon staff by ceo Jeff Bezos, the new site is “almost ready” for public launch.
