Aegis Group has established a new operating company to house its global media agency assets.

Aegis Media is being rolled out first in Europe and will have a worldwide presence by the end of the year. It comprises Carat, Posterscope and new network Vizeum, each of which will continue to operate independently.

Unveiled in March, London-based Vizeum melds a number of Aegis shops around the world, including BBJ in the UK [WAMN: 13-Mar-03]. It launches officially next week.

Aegis Media – initially headed on a global basis by Aegis Group ceo Doug Flynn – plans to support the parent company’s client-facing and specialist shops while cutting costs.

“The creation of Aegis Media,” said Flynn, “will allow us to both maximise the scale and efficiency benefits that exist within the Aegis Group, and provide us with an improved platform from which to grow the business. The structure means that both Carat and Vizeum will enjoy the group's buying clout, and centralising the back office services will allow us to manage our costs more efficiently.”

Leading the European launch are Eryck Rebbouh and Bruno Kemoun, joint ceos of Carat Europe. The new company’s North American division will be run by David Verklin, Carat’s chief executive in the region, while David Liu, the network’s ceo in Asia Pacific, will manage Aegis Media in that area.
