PARIS: Traditional media channels enjoyed strong adspend growth in the France last year, as marketers boosted their budgets in line with the improving economic climate.

Research firm Yacast reported that television, print and radio revenues climbed 11% to €16.4bn ($21.3bn; £13.7bn) during 2010.

TV sales rose 15% and surpassed €8bn, while the volume of spots also increased 16% annually.

Digital, cable and satellite broadcasters were among the primary drivers, as turnover leapt 27% and the number of commercials shown jumped 16%.

These totals increased by 9% and 12% respectively for terrestrial stations.

Elsewhere, newspapers and magazine returns expanded by 8% to €4.9bn, and both categories experienced positive trends despite the pressures exerted by the web.

Radio delivered a 5% uptick, on €3.4bn, as volume figures surged by 6% measured against 2009.
