Two conferences planned by New York-based ad organizations have been affected by the devastation in the city last week.

The 92nd annual meeting of the Association of National Advertisers, scheduled for October 10–14 in Naples, Florida, has been cancelled, reportedly the first time such action has been taken in the body’s history.

“Although there are compelling reasons to hold this meeting,” commented president/chief executive John J Sarsen Jr, “over the next several weeks, our members’ most important priority is getting back to business.”

In addition, the American Association of Advertising Agencies has postponed until next year its biennial creative conference, due to take place on October 17–19 in San Francisco.
