Britain's Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO swept the board at last week’s prestigious Clio Awards in New York, garnering no fewer than thirteen awards and winning the accolade ‘Agency of the Year’. AMV's success added to the tally of its parent BBDO Worldwide, which in all harvested twenty-two Clios.
DDB Worldwide’s Chicago office gained the Grand Clio for television with its “Whassup” commercial for Budweiser, while the Grand Clio for print went to DDB Paris for its Volkswagen Lupo campaign. Like AMV, both shops are ultimately owned by Omnicom.
The Grand Clio for interactive work (on behalf of Volkswagen of America) went to Arnold Communications in Boston.
Adidas was named advertiser of the year in recognition of work created by two agencies in the last four years: Leagas Delaney in London and San Francisco and 180 in Amsterdam.
