The UK’s largest agency, Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, is to lose its chief executive Andrew Robertson to an unspecified senior management role at BBDO, New York.
Insiders say Robertson (40) will cross the herring pond later this year to familiarise himself with BBDO’s stateside operations, although no specific job title has been agreed. Says the man himself: “I see my future within BBDO and with no other company and I want to develop my career with it. But if the question is am I going to New York to replace anybody, the answer is no."
There is already intense speculation as to who will replace Robertson at AMV, with Lowe Lintas managing director Chris Thomas leading the betting odds. The rumour mill is also awash with tales that that Robertson is being groomed as a possible successor to Allen Rosenshine, BBDO Worldwide’s 61-year-old chairman, who is due to retire within the next few years.
