Britain's top three hundred agencies by billings were once again led by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO in the Campaign magazine league table for 2000. Trailing AMV in second, third, fourth and fifth places respectively were BMP DDB, J Walter Thompson London, Publicis and M&C Saatchi – the latter outranking bitter rival Saatchi & Saatchi for the first time.
The rankings were based on media spend as measured by ACNielsen MMS. Other notable performers were Leagas Delaney which climbed seven places to number 22, followed by Mortimer Whittaker O'Sullivan – a first time entrant to the top thirty – at number 23. Among regional agencies, Edinburgh-based Faulds Advertising overhauled Manchester’s BDH TBWA to become top shop.
For the first time Campaign also ranked the top fifty new-media agencies (by self-declared income), with AKQA romping comfortably home followed by Agency.com, Wheel, Razorfish and Modem Media UK.
The media league table was dominated, as previously, by Zenith Media and Carat - in that order.
