The on-again-off-again-on-again talks between SAG/AFTRA and client/agency associations resumed again yesterday although the P&G boycott campaign has not been lifted.
Observers believe that progress is now likely given that advertisers have dropped their insistence on a single minimum payment for a broadcast-run commercial. This concession is in return for the withdrawal of the unions' demand for a pay-per-play base for cable-aired commercials.
But one contentious issue yet to be resolved is that of jurisdiction over internet ads. Unions claim that right; advertisers and agencies disagree.
