Dutch publishing giant VNU has completed its $2.3 billion acquisition of the world’s largest market research company, ACNielsen.

Announced last year [WAMN: 19-Dec-01], the deal has since been cleared by regulatory authorities in the US and Europe, becoming effective on February 16. Under the terms of the offer, ACNielsen shareholders are to receive $36.75 for every share.

The acquisition reunites ACNielsen with Nielsen Media Research, which was separated from its partner when purchased by VNU in 1999.
