THE UK INTERNET access market could be on the verge of a price war with BT’s recently-launched ‘pay-as-you-go’ service. Uniquely, there is no set monthly fee: instead, BT charges 1p per minute on top of normal telephone call costs, adding this to the quarterly bill. Other Internet service providers charge a monthly fee ranging from £6.50 to over £17. The BT service launched in Ulster and will roll-out nationally by September.
