A public relations agency in New York has won a global creative advertising assignment.

The highly unusual award comes from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Trade, and includes ad duties and PR to promote Egyptian cotton. Taking on the brief – worth $3 million (€2.8m; £1.9m) to $5m – is Interpublic Group’s Weber Shandwick Worldwide.

The agency is the first outside Egypt to be used by the ministry for its cotton work. It will assign offices in Washington, Chicago, Bonn, Paris, London and Milan to the business.

Weber will launch a new logo and a new identity for the product.
