Around £150 million of BT Wireless’s European media buying duties are up for grabs, as predicted [WAMN: 10-Aug-01]. The review coincides with BTW’s rebranding of its mobile phone operations as O2 [WAMN: 04-Sep-01].
Recently appointed vp–marketing Will Harris announced that existing buying arrangements with the Allmond Partnership and Zenith Media are under review as BTW seeks a single European agency. However, it is not yet known which other shops are in contention.
BTW is planning to split from British Telecom by the end of the year, with the O2 rebrand slated for launch next spring. Handling creative duties for the latter is Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, where Harris previously was a board director.
