Munich-headquartered broadcasting group ProSieben Sat1 Media yesterday posted a Q1 fall in sales revenue of 2.3% compared to the same period last year to 514 million euros.
However, the company expects its fortunes to revive in coming months, leaving first-half results only marginally below those of last year; while from June onward sales revenues at its TV stations Sat 1, Pro7, N24 and Kabel 1 are forecast to grow.
The ad market had been particularly slow in January and February, said the group, which went on to lower its estimates for full-year ad growth in general to 4%, down from the 6%–8% predicted by chief executive Urs Rohner at the start of last month.
However, the broadcaster declined to comment on whether it expected this slowdown in the ad market to affect its own business, or whether it anticipated ad sales stronger than the market average.
