Direct-sales technology company Dell Computer has tapped Omnicom-owned DDB Worldwide in Chicago to handle its consolidated global account. Billings are estimated at $200 million.
DDB confirmed the award last night. Although no further details have been forthcoming, it is believed that the Chicago shop will oversee creative work, while Omnicom sibling OMD in New York will handle media duties.
The decision marks a move away from Interpublic, whose Lowe Lintas & Partners in New York previously handled the home and small business duties. Also losing out to DDB is fellow Omnicom shop BBDO Worldwide, again in New York, which managed the corporate brand account.
DDB triumphed in a final round of pitches involving BBDO and Temerlin McClain in Dallas.
